Privacy policy

What we do with the information you give us, in plain English.

Who we are

This policy explains what we do with personal information you give us through this website, and what rights you have over it.

The data controller is [REGISTERED COMPANY NAME], trading as DW Finishes, a company registered in England and Wales under company number [COMPANY NUMBER], with its registered office at [REGISTERED OFFICE ADDRESS]. We are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office under registration number [ICO REGISTRATION NUMBER].

If you have any question about this policy, or about the information we hold on you, contact us at dwfinishesltd@gmail.com or on 07796 873296.

What we collect, and why

We collect personal information in one place only: the enquiry form on our contact page. When you complete it we receive your name, your email address, and the description of the work you give us. If you choose to fill them in, we also receive your telephone number, the location of the property, whether you are a homeowner, property manager or landlord, and which services you are interested in.

We use that information for a single purpose: to answer your enquiry and, if you go ahead, to quote for and carry out the work. We do not use it for anything else. We do not send marketing emails, and we do not build a mailing list.

If you telephone us instead, we will hold whatever details you give us on the call for the same purpose and for the same period.

Our lawful basis

Where you are asking us to quote for work, our lawful basis is that the processing is necessary in order to take steps at your request before entering into a contract. Where you have contacted us with a general question, our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in responding to people who get in touch with our business. In either case you are giving us the information voluntarily, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry details for 24 months from your last contact with us, then delete them. That period covers the time it usually takes to quote for a job, carry it out and deal with any follow-up, including the maintenance cycle on a managed building.

Where we have actually carried out work for you, we keep the records connected with that job for six years after the work finishes. We have to: that is the period during which a claim could be brought under the contract, and our accounting records have to be retained for tax purposes.

Who else sees it

Enquiries sent through the form arrive as an email in our own inbox, which is provided by Google (Google Workspace / Gmail). Google processes that email on our behalf as our email provider. Our website is hosted by [HOSTING PROVIDER], who store the site and its server logs.

We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with anyone else for their own purposes. We would only pass it to someone else if we were required to by law.

Our email provider may store and process your data outside the United Kingdom. Where that happens it is covered by the safeguards those providers put in place for international transfers, including the UK addendum to the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.

Cookies and tracking

This website does not set cookies. It does not use advertising trackers, social media pixels or profiling of any kind, and it makes no requests to third-party servers — the fonts and images are all served from our own site.

We use Plausible Analytics to count visits and see which pages people find useful. Plausible does not use cookies, does not collect or store any personal data, does not track people across websites or over time, and does not create any kind of profile. The statistics it produces are aggregated and cannot be traced back to an individual. Because no personal data is involved and nothing is stored on your device, there is no cookie banner on this site and none is required.

Server logs

Like almost every website, our host keeps automatic server logs recording the pages requested, the time of the request and the IP address making it. These are generated for security and for diagnosing faults, are not used to identify visitors, and are deleted on our host’s standard cycle.

Keeping it secure

The site is served over an encrypted HTTPS connection, so anything you type into the enquiry form is encrypted in transit. Access to the inbox that receives enquiries is limited to the people at DW Finishes who need it, and is protected by individual accounts.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected if it is wrong, and to have it deleted. You can also ask us to restrict what we do with it, object to our processing it, and in some circumstances ask us to transfer it to someone else.

To exercise any of these, email dwfinishesltd@gmail.com. We will respond within one month. There is no charge.

If you are not happy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk, by calling 0303 123 1113, or by writing to Information Commissioner’s Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF. We would rather you came to us first so we can put it right.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle personal information we will update this page and change the date below. This policy was last updated on August 7th 2026.
